Growing Your Social Capital

20A For the domain expert, I spoke to someone in the dryer industry, my cousin knows some people in that industry as he is a mechanical engineer. The person I spoke to manages the manufacturing of dryers in this industry. Since they know how the manufacturing process of dryers works, I think they would be a great asset to my invention. I didn’t really ask him for a favor, but more his opinion. I explained how my product would work and asked him if it is a good useful invention. He responded with yes, there are more benefits than disadvantages for this invention. For the market expert, I spoke with my aunt since she is on the marketing team for whirlpool, which is a company that sells dryers. I asked her how a day in the life of a marketing expert is and she showed me all of her duties. I asked her the favor of putting me into contact with her company’s boss, and she did. With her expertise, I was able to learn more about the marketing process. For the industry supplier, I spo...

Idea Napkin No.2

19A I am a third-year majoring in Advertisement. I am a passionate web designer and social media manager. I have created a few websites for organizations and university clubs, I enjoy the designing factor of them. I am also a brand ambassador for LULA (a car-sharing app) and Tommy Hilfiger. When I have free time, you can usually find me at the gym. After the gym, I throw my dirty laundry in the washer and dryer, which leads me to my invention of the LED indicator on the drying machine. I could definitely see myself using my invention daily. What I am offering my customers: a new easy way to dry their clothes. The idea of Lint lights is to attach an LED indicator so that an individual about to run the dryer would know if they need to check the dryer lint catcher before starting the dryer.  Who am I offering it to: busy individuals, especially, college students that live off-campus, or working parents. Why they care: Since my targeted audience is always busy, this invention is p...

Create a Customer Avatar

Image
18A The Lint lights customer avatar can be male or female, and of any age 10 and older, that is what is so great about this product, it is very adaptable. The prototypical customer for Lint lights would be someone who always has their plates full or someone who is always on the go. Most likely though, the Lint lights average customer would probably be a busy college student who is a full-time student, has a part-time job, is probably part of Greek life, and is very active with intramural sports or the gym. This customer loves keeping him or herself busy and doesn’t have time to remember tedious things such as if the lint was cleaned out of the dryer. I am also a full-time college student who has a part-time job, part of many extracurriculars, and is very active at the gym. I have many things in common with the prototypical customer as I am a busy college student. I don’t think the traits I have in common with the customer avatar is coincidental, Lint lights would be a great help in m...

Elevator Pitch #2

17A Reflection of Feedback: Most of my feedback was positive, all of my peers thought this was a good invention overall. They especially loved the app extension idea. My peers also liked how I included the name of my company and introduced my research team, as it made me seem credible. Constructively, my peers suggested that I slowed down while pitching my elevator pitch to “bring out the pitch”.  I slowed down more and added some more features that the app would potentially have.
