Reading Reflection No.3

I chose to read “How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big”. I am glad I did because it made it easier to reflect on my past failures and made the previous assignment easier.

1)    What was the general theme or argument of the book?
The general theme or argument of the book was to show readers that failing is ok and that as long as you learn from your mistakes you can still be successful.
2)    How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003?
The book, in my opinion, connected with ENT 3003 by making me reflect on my past failures like the past assignment did. Also, the peer reviews that we do is to help perfect our ideas and shouldn’t necessarily be taken as a “failure”. They are just constructive criticism.
3)    If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve?
Based on the book I read, the exercise I would design for this class is to write about a time that you “faked it till you made it” and reflect on what you learned from that moment.
4)    What was your biggest surprise or 'aha' moment when reading the book? In other words, what did you learn that differed most from your expectations?
I think the biggest surprise for me from this book was when I found out that success not only comes from passion, but passion comes from success. I’ve never looked at it that way.

  1. Deborah,
While I do enjoy the fact that you kept your post very brief, I think that you could have added more informative details for the readers enjoyment. For example, the answer you provided to question 4 seems to be informative enough, but, personally, I would want to hear more about what you mean by that statement. It sounds very "fortune cookie" here, but I am sure that it was more well described in the book.
    Other than that, excellent job!
    Respectfully, Maeghan Solanki

  2. Hey Deborah, I read this book for reading reflection 2! I definitely agree that a perfect exercise for this class and book would be to fake it until you make it. This novel revolves around the fact that you don't need to fully grasp everything. Sometimes you need to make it seem like you do until you eventually understand and win big!
